Coffee Infusions

Who says coffee is just for drinking?

Coffee infusions, commonly called coffee enemas, have been around for years. In Germany, during the early 1900s, coffee enemas were first used clinically for postoperative pain relief during World War I.

Later, in the 1930s, Dr Max Gerson popularised coffee enemas in his treatments for TB, diabetes and eventually cancer. The Gerson Institute is still around today.

Coffee enemas can increase the liver’s production of glutathione by up to 700%.

Why it matters: Often called the “master antioxidant”, glutathione protects cells from oxidative stress and plays a crucial role in detoxification, helping the liver clear out toxins and waste.

It also supports cellular health, including making DNA and repairing damaged cells; immune function, helping immune cells work properly to fight illness; and antioxidant recycling, regenerating other important antioxidants such as vitamins C and E.

What it means during a colonic treatment: Adding coffee to your colonic treatment can assist in cleansing the colon, flushing out impacted faecal matter and toxins, helping to eliminate parasites, boosting energy, improving digestion, stimulating bile flow and stimulating the liver.

Please note: If you are new to colonics, it is recommended that you complete at least one to three colonic treatments before booking an infusion/enema. You are required to hold the infusion for 12–15 minutes, which can be challenging for someone who has never had a colonic treatment before.
